Dandelion Phonic Readers
Dandelion readers are simple to use and provide children with books that are structured, have engaging stories and are brightly illustrated. Children can confidently start reading when they know 5 sounds - ‘a i m s t’ and can blend them together to make words.
The first pack is available in three parallel sets of ten books. This means that children have 3 books at the same level allowing them to practise with confidence.
Each Dandelion reader:
- follows a rigorous phonic progression. Each level builds on previous levels.
- uses minimal sight words
- has text on a cream background to make it reader friendly
- has motivating stories with appealing characters and imaginative illustrations
- contains a games page to simulate further reading practice
Each pack of books (1 – 10), (11-20) introduces the sounds listed below. There are 3 sets of different stories for Units 1 – 10 and 2 sets for Units 11 – 20

Dandelion Readers Extended Phonic Code Levels 1, 2, and 3 practice the sounds as listed below. Level 1 books introduce a sound with one digraph, for example, the long sound ‘a’ as in apron. Level 2 and 3 continue with this sound but extend it introducing more digraphs and letter clusters representing this sound – ai (train), ay (tray), a-e (mate), ea (break) and so on.
